KCA Lost Boys Abu Dhabi

Pits and Troughs Many ups and downs going through this awful experience. People laugh when I say we are mixed up with the Cat Mafia of Abu Dhabi, but that's literally what it feels like. Its a very clandestine affair, with lots of cloak and dagger and skulduggery moments. Anonymous blocked number phone calls, and meetings in dark places. Secret locations revealed, and swearing confidentiality  before receiving information. We only want our three cats back. We now feel after everything we have discovered that we have to help. We have to make a difference.  We are missing our boys terribly. It all seems worse because it feels like we are hitting a dead end. We need to think of a plan to keep the momentum going, which is very difficult when we are feeling exhausted. We wont give up.

We can't give up searching for our boys. A tip off to search at Al Reef last night. We saw a few cats. Can't tell if they are strays or pets. Spoke with people and left flyers after having a walk around. We then went to check out some stray cats at a mosque near to home. Still no joy but we will continue to search. Praying for good news today 🙏  It could have all been so much easier, if on day one when I asked: "Where are our cats", they had been honest with us. So I've started on a list of things that could alleviate the stray cat problems we are seeing here. Please feel free to discuss in comments and add your thoughts too. A joint venture between abu dhabi and dubai would be the answer.  A joint government approved and funded cat sanctuary  6 resident vets, 3 fully equiped surgeries and medicines. Walled safe and spacious areas with isolation pods.  Boarding facilities.  Drop off facilities to discourage abandonment.  Connected utilities Fleet of vehicles and tnr cages, under one agency removing all the independent cat removal companys presently dumping cats 😡. Resident groomer and facilities An admin and business support team. 24hr rescue hot line and support team. Government funded, means tested, salary certificate PDSA equivalent  Licence pet ownership  Licence breeders One centralised adoption agency at the sanctuary A law to actively investigate and document complaints for removal of cats.  Clear...

We have relied heavily on the support of people following the boys updates on Facebook. We have discovered a truly amazing support network and also realise we are not alone. We want our boys back. If we can save anyone else from having to go through this, then we will be happy to have made a difference. We know a complaint was made. That complaint was played to us by the pest company. ' Take these cats far far away. They put dust on the car '.  Is that a valid complaint?  Was it investigated?  Does it warrant removing 3 neutered and microchipped pet cats...

Now the boys are in trouble We were searching frantically for 2 days. Up and down the streets, checking electrical cupboards, asking passers-by. We didn't know what to do. All their details were sent to the local vets and The Falcon Care Centre. Then, it felt like I was punched in the stomach - a cat trap against the adjoining wall to our neighbour. We called all the numbers on the trap. No answer. No answer. No answer. We called a friend who had a contact number for us. It worked We emailed Falcon - theyve not seen any of our cats. Pest control will update us..... they did not. No information. We went to Falcon. No information. We emailed the pest control company. No reply. We went to the pest control company. Waste of time, they wouldn't help us. We were in a spin of what to do next.

Winnie and Monty Two more of our boys disappeared. They were not there for dinner on the 23rd and they both missed breakfast on the 24th. Now we began searching in earnest. Three cats to disappear is too much. Winston found us when he was on the second-floor carpark of Dalma Mall.  We had taken away some leftover lunch, which fortunately contained a few large prawns.  We offered a prawn to this tiny little kitten and he swallowed it whole! The prawn was as big as his head!! As soon as I held him, I knew he was unwell. He was boiling hot, so we went straight to the vet. He was parvo positive 😔 The vets advised that if he made it through the next 24 hours, he could survive. Three weeks later he was released. He made it. When he was old enough for castration, he required surgery as his testicles hadn't dropped 🤯. So, after all his problems, we decided not to have his ear clipped. He had been through enough. 9th October 2022 Where has Blacky gone? He disappeared after a Sunday lay-in with his best friend Squeaky. Blacky and Squealy have been friends for over 10 years, welcoming us to our new life in Abu Dhabi, already living in our villa! They moved in and the rest is history. At 08.45 on Sunday 9th October, Blacky had his breakfast and nipped outside as was his usual routine. He never came back. He has never disappeared or wandered during the 10 years he has been with us. He never misses dinner or his bed for the night. We searched for him and came to the conclusion that maybe  he was a lot older than we thought. Maybe it was his time and as cats are known to do, he had quietly taken himself away to die peacefully alone. He is sorely missed by his lifelong companion Squeaky. She waits at the cat flap for him daily.   We wont give up
