To the rescue 🦸♀️
I am so not cut out for this.
I received a call from a lady I have made friends with around our boys campaign.
She called me to help with a sick cat outside her villa. She had no transport. I don't have the car till Dave gets home from work at 2.30. This started at 11.50. Me being me, I had to help this lady as she was so distressed.
So, I tried calling several pet taxis and none were available. I then called several vets - none offer an ambulance type service. No one was available to help us.
As soon as dave got home I raced off, with Google maps as I didn't have a clue where I was going.
I arrived at the villa and when I saw the kitten I could quite easily have passed out. I don't have to be a qualified vet to see it was in a very bad way. I was concerned about parvo so said we should not touch it. It tried to make a lame attempt to evade me as I dropped a towel on it. I bundled it up and popped it in the car. I hardly spoke with my friend as I knew we had to act fast.
Google maps to vets. I have a terrible internal compass, well its non existent really. I poked the cat twice on the way as I thought it had died. It wasn't moving.
We arrived at the vets. I had warned them I would be turning up with a cat before I left home. They whisked it straight in.
He said it was a little girl. She was so dehydrated he was anxious to get a line in and did the parvo and another test first. Then he tried to get the line in. She had no veins for entry in her front legs. He had to insert the line in her back leg. She has a bacterial infection in her mouth which looks horrendous. I left her in their safe hands. To be honest, i am abit squeamish and even the temperature taking makes me feel ill. Im not cut out for this sort of stuff for sure. My friend will settle the bill on this one.
We have been told the next 2 days are critical so we have to sit and wait now.
I know social media has exposed us to these incidents and I could say no. I just hope that by helping this one, maybe someone is helping one of our boys if they are in trouble.
Finding our boys has led us into so many unpredictable situations. A cat isolated in our shower room. A cat we have donated towards for a burn injury it has sustained. Running round like an ambulance service. We have no idea where we are going or where this will end.
I pray the end is in sight for our boys. I'm missing them more than ever. I can not give up on them.
